Review of The Black Whale Restaurant in Beach Haven

Recently I had the pleasure of dining at The Black Whale Bar & Fish House in Beach Haven and found it to be an exceptional experience. From the moment I entered, I was charmed by its charming ambience and attention to detail – tables decorated with classic seafood house paper covers made for an inviting and authentic setting.

Food was certainly a highlight of my visit at Black Whale Restaurant & Tavern. Their delectable seafood selection and impeccable preparation won over my girlfriend with Shrimp Skewers being flavorful yet tender, and Fried Shrimp delicious with crispy exterior and succulent interior. Baked Clams made for a delightful appetizer, as was their delicious family salad featuring house balsamic and ranch dressings; to finish our meal off on a sweet note we indulged in Brownie Sundaes made up of rich chocolate-y flavors combined with creamy ice cream goodness.

Jess R was outstanding; friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu; she provided great recommendations that ensured our dining experience was unforgettable. Additionally, the entire staff at The Black Whale created an extremely warm and welcoming environment which made for an excellent dining experience.

The Bar

The Black Whale has a large bar. In the early evening the bar predominates the scene. The crowd consists of a large percentage of regulars. Often there is live music. The place gets extremely lively as people come into the bar. In other words, if you are looking for a quiet family dinner, you probably want to get there before 9 PM or sit well away from the bar.

Reservation fees

Note that The Black Whale charges a reservation fee of $20 per person. While this may seem steep, I highly advise making one as this restaurant can become extremely crowded; and believe me when I say the investment is well worth it when considering their excellent food and service!
