A look at Long Beach Island, NJ
The Acme was one of the hottest bars on LBI during the 1970’s.
The Ketch was once the Acme Hotel, Bar and Restaurant. During it’s heyday it was a favorite of celebrities such as Babe Ruth. It was also allegedly a speakeasy during prohibition. When the revenuers were on their way, the stash of not so legal booze could be dropped into the bay.
Sept 2019 – I stopped in for a quick bite at the Daddy O Restaurant. I’ve passed by the place hundreds of times. I had heard mythical stories about the cost to eat there. A quick check of the menu showed that you could get a Daddy O burger for $18. Ok, that is a little high for a burger but not outrageous.
UPDATE – July 2020 – Station 117 is offering outdoor dining in “The Garden”. It is well covered outdoor seating.
Station 117 Restaurant and Bar pays homage to the lifesaving stations that once provided protection and refuge for sailors along the coast of Long Beach Island.
The Tiki Bar and Palm Grill at the Seashell Hotel is an outdoor bar and restaurant.
The Black Whale is a restaurant with great seafood and a bar.
The Hudson house is a no-frills local bar located on 13th street between Long Beach Boulevard and North Beach Avenue in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There is very limited parking available. Many visitors walk or bicycle.
UPDATE 2020 – Tuckers added a huge tent in their back parking lot as well as an outdoor Beer Garden. (Full bar service)
July 2020 update – Buckalews is offering outside dining in a large tent on Centre Street.
Buckalews restaurant and bar is located in the heart of Beach Haven.
The Delaware Avenue Oyster House and bar has a great selection of fresh shellfish.
