A look at Long Beach Island, NJ
The Rutgers University Marine Field Station is housed in the former United States Coast Guard Station Little Egg.
Boating on Long Beach Island began with the canoes of the Native Americans. There are some rumors that Viking Longships may have visited the area prior to Columbus. During the 1800’s sailing vessels such as Catboats filled the bay.
This is an Aerial view of the bayside of North Beach Haven and part of Spray Beach. The Boulevard is clearly visible. The Spray Beach Yacht Club is visible in the top left of the photo. I’m not sure of the exact date, but judging from the vehicles, it is probably from the 1940’s.
Another photo of the Lucy Evelyn at anchor in Little Egg Harbor. This was in the 1940’s
